The 2007 Scientific Assembly will feature the newest installment of ACEP's Artistic Expressions. This gallery of visual artwork and creative writing from ACEP members was first included in the Scientific Assembly program in 2005, and has been a highlight of the Assembly ever since. It will be open in the Exhibit Hall on Oct. 8-10 during show hours. The gallery is organized and hosted by the ACEP Section of Medical Humanities.

New this year will be a live performance component. Building on the success of the 2006 Open Mic night, ACEP members will be given a venue at Artistic Expressions to share their musical talents. Thirty-minute blocks will be available for scheduled and impromptu performances throughout the time the gallery is open.

For those interested in submitting artwork or creative writing to the gallery, an application form is available on the ACEP Section of Medical Humanities Web site www.acep.org/webportal/membercenter/sections/hum. Those interested in performing a musical set are encouraged to bring their instrument to Seattle. A set list will be built each day that the gallery is open. Most important, we encourage all Assembly attendees to come and engage in this new and exciting ACEP venture. Contact 2007 Artistic Expressions Chair Seth C. Hawkins at hawk@aya.yale.edu.

The Section of Medical Humanities is also organizing ACEP's second Open Mic Night/Concert for Scientific Assembly. We are seeking musicians, dancers, poets, and actors interested in sharing their talents. Do you play an instrument? Interested in joining an ACEP ensemble or orchestra rather than a solo act? Anyone interested in performing, joining other musicians, or volunteering for set up, please contact Dr. Liz Mitchell at emitchel@bu.edu.
