Questions and best practices documents needed
Many emergency departments are struggling with large numbers of worried well, as well as patients with a variety of febrile illnesses who are fearful that they may have H1N1 influenza, (aka "swine flu"). We would like to know what questions you have, and what information you would find helpful as you deal with this situation.
We are also interested in sharing "best practices" devised by ACEP members and others. If you have developed or deployed prehospital or waiting room triage protocols designed to rapidly identify patients who are at high risk for complications of influenza, versus those who can be reassured and sent home with or without antivirals, depending on their availability and local health department guidelines, we request that you please share them with us.
Given the evolving nature of the situation, we ask that you send us your questions and documents as soon as possible.
- Please share your best practices with us. If you have documents, protocols or algorithms, please upload the document (or multiple documents compiled in a zip file) to ACEP.
