About the Emergency Department Directors Academy

The desire to provide excellent patient care is shared by all emergency physicians. But what if your hospital environment can't support making this ideal a reality?

At the director level, the act of healing and the science of medicine become one with the business of delivering care. To solidify the leadership positions we have assumed, emergency physicians will require a greater understanding of systems, organization and management.

The successful emergency department director sees to it that his or her facility determines its role and that it does so in the most cost-efficient manner. Only by understanding the disciplines that control our practices can we truly get our wants and desires known, articulated and implemented.

ACEP's Emergency Department Directors Academy was developed by a distinguished panel of highly-respected emergency department management educators and veteran practitioners as a call to advance the position of emergency medicine.

Graduates of the unique ED Directors Academy will receive a certificate of completion documenting their pursuit of excellence and participation in specialized management training. ED Directors Academy Certification is a valuable asset to physicians seeking to advance their careers through emergency department management.

After completing Phase I, registrants will receive email notification, including username and password, on how to access course materials.

A 4-day workgroup during which participants will interact in small groups, led by experts in the field of emergency department management. Case discussion and strategic thinking will be used to demonstrate routes to resolution, providing the opportunity to problem solve, role play, and create detailed plans for specific projects that may serve them well when they return to their own emergency departments.
