In his role as director of quality improvement and education for the emergency department at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals in Henderson, NV, Dr. Ross Berkeley established a therapeutic hypothermia cerebral resuscitation pathway for post-cardiac arrest patients, before the more widespread adoption of this therapy. At University Medical Center (UMC) of Southern Nevada, he developed a multidisciplinary cardiac activation system to improve door-to-balloon times for STEMI management, while also spearheading emergency department implementation of an early goal-directed therapy management pathway for severe sepsis. Dr. Berkeley now serves as vice-chair of the UMC Quality and Patient Safety Committee.
Dr. Berkeley advocates critical thinking in the residents and paramedic students he instructs. He is a founder of the University of Nevada School of Medicine’s emergency medicine residency, the first in the state, and volunteers as a tactical physician for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team.

Dr. Bryan Bledsoe’s name is widely recognized in emergency medical services. As the lead author of Brady’s best-selling paramedic textbooks, he has helped educate thousands of EMTs and paramedics for more than 20 years and has nearly 1 million books in print. He is a popular speaker at EMS conferences and a columnist for several national EMS magazines. He is often quoted in national media outlets. Dr. Bledsoe has used evidenced-based medicine to help formulate the future direction of EMS.
Dr. Bledsoe is a former EMT and paramedic and has served as a paramedic instructor and program coordinator. He was also medical director for two emergency departments and 15 EMS services throughout Dallas, Texas. He co-chairs the Certification and Evaluation Board (CEB) for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). He is working with the University of Nevada School of Medicine to develop an EMS Fellowship. Dr Bledsoe divides his time between Midlothian, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada.
