In addition to developing and offering its own educational programs, ACEP reviews other continuing medical education emergency medicine activities for ACEP Category I Credit.

ACEP only reviews programs that have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TM by an ACCME accredited provider or that are jointly sponsored by ACEP. The review system for ACEP Category I Credit is formally initiated when an application is submitted by a program director via the ACEP On-line CME Application. Upon receipt of a completed application, the program is reviewed to verify that all criteria is met.

The American College of Emergency Physicians is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. ACEP does not jointly sponsor directly with anyone other than their state chapters. Chapters may apply for joint sponsorship for their educational programs, and when approved will simultaneously receive both AMA PRA Category 1 Credit^TMand ACEP Category I Credit.
