As an adjunct to this policy, ACEP prepared a Policy Resource Education Paper (PREP) titled, "Evaluation and Treatment of Minors: Reference on Consent" 

The medical screening, evaluation and necessary treatment of a minor in the emergency department should not be delayed because of consent issues.
