The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) encourages use of national standards for data elements in emergency department (ED) information systems and emergency medical services (EMS) information systems. Adherence to prevailing data standards enables interoperable data exchanges between information systems used in clinical care and in public health. Data Elements for Emergency Department Systems (DEEDS) and the National EMS Information System Project (NEMSIS) provide standard sets of data elements for ED and EMS systems.
